Everyone,

We were running a select when the system froze.

(After Seleting but while updating query tables).

The user chose to re-boot the machine, rather than

waiting for help. When AREV re-started we had an

error message on SYSTEMP. Using LHVERIFY shows GFE,

USING FIXLH shows Fatal Error Writing Table SYSTEMP.

My question is this - will restoring SYSTEMP from a backup

work, or do I need to re-load AREV. It is a stand-alone PC,

using NT 4.0, running on a PENTIUM 266. Thanks in Advance.

You can restore it, but if the system will let you clear the file, that would be faster.

Aaron,

Thanks for the speedy response. Clearing the table did

the trick. I just don't like to mess around with system

tables. Again, thank you very much.

SYSTEMP is just a table for temporary storage of various items, such as work space for select lists. This file can get pretty big if you have enough aborts, so, especially on a stand-alone system, it's a good idea to periodically clear it when nobody but you is logged on.
