NPP, NT "Too many files open" (Networking Products)

I am running an AREV 2.1 application using NPP 1.5 on an NT 4.0 server. When approximately 50+ users log in to AREV, clients start getting "too many files open" among other various messages and crashes. Revelation NT Service is not an option at this point. Is there a solution to this problem?
Also, the readme file with the NPP 1.5 release mentions two new parameters for the REVPARAM file: MaximumOpenDosFiles and MaximumOpenLHFiles. There were no default or maximum values mentioned. Are there any hints as to what these parameters should be set?

What type of errors, DOS or ARev?
You might try upping the handles in CONFIG.SYS.

The "Too many files open" is a DOS error. The AREV clients also get various AREV crashes: a scrolling indexing error or a break in ERRORMSG (or something like that) in the debug screen.
The problem doesn't appear to orignate at the users' computers since everyone runs fine as long as there are less than 50 or so users logged in. The problem starts when the user count gets beyond 50+ (I don't have an accurate count because there is nothing to tell me how may users have started the AREV application). My AREV.EXE is bumped to 128 users.
When the problem starts, I can sit at my computer in a DOS window (without AREV running) and try to copy a file to the AREV directory and get the "Too many files open" error. I can repeat the process over and over and eventually I will hit a "window" where the copy will be successful.
I'm running Windows 95 and have FILES=128 in my CONFIG.SYS.

Well, if you can get this error with ARev not running, it has nothing to do with ARev at all. What happens if you try and copy any file to that server?
It sounds like the server has reached its limit on the number of files it will handle. You're going to have to look there and increase it's maximum files.

One of the first things we looked at was the NT server, however, there is nothing in its configuration for setting a file handle value.
I was hoping that someone else had reported something similar to this problem in the past. I can't beleive we are the first AREV users to use the NPP on an NT server without the Revelation NT Service. And if we're not, why are we getting this problem when others don't ???
