When i try to activate the NLM 1.5 driver i get the "FS477 Filing system installation failed" errormessage.

First we got this error only on Win3.11 machines, but now when we changed to Win95 (Compaq) it dosen´t seem to work here either.

This error shows up even if i have the application local and datafiles on the server.

Another thing is when i try to activate "All networks"-driver i get anoter error: "Unable to access linear hash files" fs1019, and after that i get "Filing system installation failed" fs1100.

The two drivers i CAN use is: NetWare multi-user driver ver 2.0c and Byte-range locking Multi user driver 2.0c.

OI version 3.2, Novell 3.12 and Compaq win95…

Would like to activate the NLM because it´s impossible to use our application as it is today.

Jens

Sorry… I´ve found a "revparam" file in the root…

So it wasn´t that strange att all.

It´s working now, but let´s change subject.

On this machine (Compaq) The thing is that it´s very slow even when i start the application local, but when i pull out the network-cable it´s more than double speed.

Why is that?

I am not using the network here…

Where did Victor Engel's response to Jens' posting go? There were a couple of postings that appeared briefly in the list but vanished when I refreshed…

We seem to have had some technical difficulties on our discussion board, so I have to backtrack a little here.

Are you still having trouble with the FS477 errors? If so, try the following things:

- Make sure the NLMs are started on the server. If they are not started, you can manually start them by typing "LHSTART".

- If the NLMs are not starting, they may not have been installed correctly. Try re-installing the NLMs by following the installation instructions. Make sure that you enter a correct serial number when installing the NLMs.

- Make sure that the network driver that you have selected is the "IPX/ADVANCED NETWARE DRIVER" version 1.5. If the error is preventing you from selecting a driver, you ban manually change the driver by going into the directory where OInsight.exe resides and copying the LHIPX.DLL to LH.DLL.

- Make sure that there is a "Revparam." file in every directory that contains a Linear Hash file (.LK or .OV). The Revparam file should not have an extension, and should contain the text "SERVERONLY=1".

- Make sure that the frame type of your workstations are the same as the frame type of your server.

Hope that helps if you were still experiencing problems.

As for the slow performance while running ARev locally, what protocols do you have on your workstation? Try eliminating any that you are sure you don't need/use.

Hello again.

The "fs477"-problem is gone.

This wasn´t a real problem i think… I think the real problem was me.

Anyway, the problem right now is the communication with the application.

I have OI on the client and accessing data on a remote server, and the question is: Why is everything so slow when i start OI local?

Can´t understand why it speeds up when i physically pull out the network-cable.

How does OI communicate with the application on it´s own disk???

Via the network???

Win95, NLM 1.5, and OI 3.2 is used.

The real problem was you? Today I have a user (Sunnfjord Museum) reporting something similar. Don't tell me that was you too? :-)

You might help me by telling me the real cause. If it's not of general intertest you can mail me. I haven't got details on my user's system yet, but at least they have no NML. På forhånd takk!
