I have a requirement to export some reports to word and was wondering if anybody has done this successfully or if it's possible at all?

I presume your question is about putting ViP generated reports into a Word document.

Word seems to be able to import very few file-types that are not in Microsoft Office. Rich-text (RTF) would work, but ViP does not output into standard Rich-Text. However, Word will import Text documents.

I added a printer with a driver Generic/Text Only. You need to set the port to come hard-coded file (like c:\report.txt), and the Print Processor default datatype TEXT.

Then in a ViP PrintPreview of report, I set the printer to Generic/TextOnly and printed the report. This did then made a text file of the report. Word was able to open this as a text file.

Of couse, you will get only the text, none of the nice formatting or graphics. Presumably you can fix it up then in Word.

Hope this gives you some ideas anyway.
