Howdy all,

Thanks so very much for your previous help. Things are looking up around here.

I don't yet have the cool reporter interface, so I'm kinda stuck using the Revelation Reporter and seem to be having a little difficulty.

The report I am trying to generate is a columnar report with 4 fields. Two of these fields are TEXT fields that, in Reporter, I've classed as MV, treated as single fields with wrapped text. Everything looks great when I preview the report, that is, all of the data from the file makes it onto the report. The problem is when I route to the printer. In a few instances, immediately after a page break, what would be the first line of the next record doesn't print on the paper (tho it appears in preview), only the 2nd and subsequent lines of the Text box fields.

So I need a little help resolving that issue, but, as an extention of that, how does one keep a record from breaking across pages in the first place? I've tried Format, Sections, Details, Keep Together but that doesn't work, neither does Keep with next, or having them both selected (this seems counter-intuitive).

Any suggestions?

TIA,

Mike

Mike, My experience of Reporter is that at times it is real great. Yet from time to time a b**. In fairness, would seem that font miss-matches cause some of the break problems. Important that you ensure the graphic space you mark out is appropriate for the font used and that all columes line up horizontally ie alligne say top and the size equal then re-align to be sure.

Richard,

Thanks for the assist. In the details sections, all of the fields to be reported are aligned. Page header field labels are all aligned. I have a graphic (logo) in the report header section and a text box to describe the report, and an "end of report" tag in the report footer. The only items that are not the default font/size are in the report header (the graphic, naturally; and the report title). In Preview, everything looks perfect: no data loss, everthing that's supposed to be in Arial 8 seems to be in Arial 8. The report header and footer both look right. I have tried changing the depth (i.e., size) of the details section, and have even tried moving the 4 fields up down and sideways and no matter what sort of messing around I do, the screen version always looks perfect but the printed version drops data.

This is becoming most annoying!

I should have asked before.. What version of OI / Reporter?

(Even with that info I will still be uncertain the issue, but at least we will know)

I will add at this point that we as a company have a couple of outstanding issues with RevTech/WinWin relating to this error. I believe that there is a bug in Reporter in this area.

I've found empirically that different printers are able to cope with certain margin sizes. Keep the fields (particularly the right hand side of the page) well within the margin.

Pagination works best for me if you keep a small page footer and report footer showing, even if there's nothing in them.

This is with OI 3.7.0
