I'm running AREV 3.0 on a Novell 3.2 network. I'm running a NLM 1.5 patch. Performance on the local station Win 95 and 98 is good. However, when I run arev on a local NT station, the processing speed goes down dramatically.

Suggestions or insights on why?

We discussed this same topic a few weeks ago.

One of the suggestions offered was to upgrade to ARev 3.12 and set the Hardware environment setting "Yield time to Windows". I'm not familiar with 3.0x but it may have this setting.

Looking at the NT Service FAQ there is this:

"I am running multiple protocols on my system, is this OK to do with the NT service?"

"Yes, it is OK and you will be able to run your application, however, less is best. We call that "stacking" your protocols. You will notice a significant decrease in performance of your Arev or OI product the more protocols you have running on your system. We would recommend using only one protocol for maximum performance on your workstation. Also, Microsoft's Netbeui will typically be your fastest protocol, TCP/IP will be the second fastest, and the IPX/SPX protocol will be the third fastest. If you need to be running IPX/SPX when talking to an NT Server, you want to make sure you are using Microsoft drivers. "
