I use the $INSERT function frequently.

Maybe I am going mad, but it no longer seems to be able to compile the event code if the insert uses a short form set-property.

* event code

$INSERT TEST

RETURN 0

COMPILE INSERT TEST

.TEST-]TEXT="

I am aware that stored procedures requite the full set-property command, but as inserts compile into the event code, it is rather peculiar.

I am sure it did not do this in the past (maybe).

Inserts do not compile into event code HOWEVER inserts used in the context of Event code MAY support this function as it is simply a pre compiler process. If you have seen it works it means that the event comiler includes inserts BEFORE swapping out short form properties etc.
