Just a quick note for the users of the new JOI tool:
Before using the newly released Forte 3.0 Early Access Edition, please read this posting in the JOI section first for installation instructions:
Just trying to prevent some gray(grey for UK) hairs …

Hi Dave
Thanks for the warning but I can't get near it.
Boss has short arms and deep pockets. I have eval copy of JOI thanks to the Roadshow, so I wouldn't mind knowing the problems with installing Forte since we need that to make the java stuff work.

Scott,
We're trying to be pretty pro-active with all the JOI issues, because we don't want anybody putting JOI in the same category with JRev and thinking it is vaporware.
We will try to give out as much information as possible so that when you, the developer gets the product, you realize right away that its a serious, working tool, designed to get you results immediately.
For now, I would still encourage you to start with Forte 2.0, and move to 3.0 once you get the hang of the whole development environment.
Aside from the big issue I warned about in the note, there are little annoyances that we reported to Sun already, and we hope they will correct them before the final release of Forte 3.0. I will probably post even these little annoyances on the site in the next day or two for everybody to know about them.
As for the boss, hey if he's got deep pockets…
On a serious note though, please let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
All the best,
David

Hi David
I still can't believe you missed the Roadshow, - there is still California?
Boss deep pockets, short arms, ie he can't reach his wallet…No money for Rev, Sprezz or me. There is a solution for this and I am thinking about it.
Scott, to LMS or not to LMS

Hi Scott,
Actually I was at both Roadshows in California in June
As for the other thing, I wish you good luck, whatever you decide. Revelation finally has cutting-edge products that are actually ahead of the market (Java/XML, rapid development environment, LH access, popups, etc!) and they allow you to reuse all your existing data, functions/subroutines, and skills… Should be a very exciting time for everyone in the community, and a good time to put them to good use.
