We are going to move our AREV 3.12 applications to a Server 2003 machine. Right now we have a test server set up to make sure we have everything setup correctly and working properly. We want to setup a dedicated indexer machine. I've been reading about it in the User's Guide manual and I have some instructions on how to set one up on a DOS machine. These instructions also talk about Win3.x and Win95. They also tell how to modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

Our network folks insist that the dedicicated indexer machine be on a WinXP box. In looking around on my workstation WinXP machine, I can't find an AUTOEXEC.BAT file. I assume MS has done away with it/replaced it with something else.

My question is, can anyone tell me where I can find instructions on how to setup a dedicated indexer on our newer MS OS (WinXP)?

Thank you for your time.

I think it is the same on XP, as it is on Win 2000

Try C:\WINNT\system32\autoexec.nt

Right, look for CONFIG.NT and AUTOEXEC.NT. However you can create custom files with your own file and path names in the pif settings. That way the settings won't be universal with every instance of a "DOS" window.
