I'm thinking of taking an application mobile. The obvious answer would be a laptop. However, if we could use something smaller such as a Palm, a HandheldPC, or a PocketPC.

I know that there is some use of the Palm. Has anyone had any success with a HandheldPC or a PocketPC? Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Thanks,

Richard-

OI Won't work on WinCE right now, but it is in our plans.

As far as Palm, we do very well with Web Clipping applications.

On a PocketPC running Windows CE and PocketDOS, you can boot AREV to TCL, but the printer and disk drive support from PocketDOS is not compatible withn AREV's requirements. String space management is also problematic. You can get as far as TCL, though. Just that it hangs when you try to do too much. We are presently investigating ways forward.

Do you have any updated information on this?

Thank you very much,

I don't know the environment but we have have had success running both Arev and OI via Citrix ICA using an iPAC and also on a 12inch tablet.

Of course this means a permanant connection to your network so it's not the cheapest option but it works well. It will involve some screen redesign for the reduced resolution but otherwise nothing much else to do on the Palm.

Tony, (and RTI)

Sounds like running terminal services on a Pocket PC can make OI shine. I will have to try that when I get some time.

Meanwhile, I think Mike Ruane mentioned that RTI might be working on something to permit OI to run natively on a Pocket PC (my interpretation).

So what's the scoop?? the word?? the story??

Thanks,

Ray
