This topic was posted in Feb.`97 with several options recommended. I applied one of them; setting the Options - Environment - Hardware - Yield time to Windows=YES. The processor utilixation is still running 98% of resources when the AREV application is loaded. Once we exit, it drops back to expected levels. This is an AREV 3.12 app with the 1.5 NLM in service.

We have a dedicated indexer running that handles all record updating (no indexing on individual workstations).

If anyone would share the details of correcting this problem, I'd greatly appreciate your time. Please respone here, or you can e-mail me at mredwci@cboss.com

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Edward,

I just did some quick tests out of curiousity.

FWIW (for what it's worth for those that forget what the heck this acronym means like I always do), I noted that if I run ARev from my NT workstation with Dynamic Memory Allocation on, I get 98-100% of my system resources used up.

This option is found in the Properties of the ARev shortcut within the Screen tab. Unchecking this option brought useage down considerably.

Steve,

We looked at the shortcut that launches the AREV app; the Dynamic Memory Allocation box wasn't checked to begin with. It doesn't matter whether or not the box is checked or empty; 98 - 100% processor util-ization as long as the AREV app is loaded. Once it's closed, process-or util. drops back into normal ranges.
Can you give us something else to try, please?

Ed.
