I have had no luck getting by this message. It seems that prior discussions have pointed me in the direction of certain DLL files that need to be checked. Nothing has helped. Is there any other direction I can take with this error message? I have not seen any recent responses on this issue. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,

Can you provide more detail regarding this situation? I don't recall seeing your previous posting. Please include the following information:

OI version

OS version

Network driver

Did this happen from a fresh OI install or has OI worked before and then this began happening?

We'll try to work through this from there.

We experienced repeated bootup failures on local and network versions of OI a few weeks after daylight saving time changed to standard time. One workstation voluntarily set it's system date so that the year became 2098. Forward thinking is nice but… Setting the year back to 1998 and a cold boot seemed to solve the problem. Good luck!

I figured out what was causing the inability to run Ceridian's HR/Payroll for Windows application (OpenInsight for Workgroups ver. 3.61). If you disable write-behind caching on the desktop, this could be one possible solution which seemed to be the fix for this one particular installation. Another troubleshooting option would be to check the CTL3D.DLL version that is being used. A different CTL3D.DLL version is available for Windows 3.x, Windows 95, or Windows NT.

Thanks for all of your responses.

You may want to check for the presence of REVCAPI.DLL, 24K, dated 12/10/96 and REVSHELL.DLL, 18K, dated 12/10/96 in the Windows/System subdirectory on a W95 workstation. I suspect that since my OI directory had the same dlls but dated 06/01/98, this inconsistency is what was killing my OI bootup. I could get into the OI tools (Open Application) but I couldn't run my application nor the C/S or U/I Workspace functions. The system monitor would show RUN START_WINDOW where should have been my main form name.

Very odd! Once I deleted these out of the win/system subdir, everything flew just fine.
