Does OI have corresponding functionality (with AREV) for:

1.Import

2.Merge

3.Filter

4.keystroke capture

5.macro

If any of these functions don't work, is there a 3rd party source for them?

1.Import

There is a form called IMPORT_ASCII under OpenInsight Form executables

2.Merge

Reporter supports merges

3.Filter

Yes, but you might want to be more specific in how you want to apply filters in order for me to tell you how to accomplish your task

4.keystroke capture

5.macro

Both of these can be done using third party Windows applications. Since OI does operate like a self-contained OS (ala AREV, Pick, etc) it does not provide these features. WinBatch is a contemporary and popular shareware for doing both of these.

1. Import. Tools, database manager, file, import

2. Merge. Report Designer

3. Filter. Call Rlist (see online docs - no specific equivalane but can be implemented this way)

4. Keystroke capture. No - Windows removed this feature when moving from 3.1 to 95.

5. Macro. Easily duplicated by having menu options on an MDI frame which have a shortvut key but are invisible.

Don,

Do you know where I can get a copy of Winbatch?

I haven't researched it for a long time but I'm sure you can get it at download.com which has a treasure of shareware applications.
