Is there a way to create a memory resident table?

Common variables will not work, since I need multiple users to access the information thru memory.

Is this possible?

Memory resident in the same way SYSTABLES etc is? Is this to be read only or do you need to update also?

Would a RAM disk work?

If you are asking whether the user on one machine can access the memory on another machine, then the answer is no.

Good question… I don't know… hmmm…

Ok, it will not be read only, that I know.

I have been thinking… A memory resident table might not work because, I believe, you can not share memory between users. Right?

And hmmmm… ram disk has that same problem.

I think I am asking OI to do something darn near impossible.

Well you could theoretically play with Network DDE but no - not easily. It should be achievable as http://www.dkl.com/products/nettables/ shows but it would probably need more work than could be justified.

Actually, this is what a databases are really good at, sharing information between users…

You could be onto something here Pat - mind you if it was that good an idea surely someone would have tried it years ago ;-).

In any case - enough RAM on the server and it's already virtually a RAM disk .
