Hello… Any hints on why after moving arev 3.12 from novell 3.12 to novell 4.2 my performance went to the dogs????

I have 5 users and the first loads in good speed.. the second user will take minutes to load. This did not happen with novell 3.12. Are there any settings in novell 4.2 I can change? Is there a preferred client to use? I am about to change back to the old Novell but could use some help if this can be avoided….

Thanks

Have you got TTS (transaction tracking system)loaded? - if you have then disable it. If we recall correctly it's loaded by default on Novell 4.x. Also - as an experiment, try disabling locking on a second copy of your application, and see if locking is a factor. If the non-locking system works faster, then either TTS is the culprit or you're using byte-range locking (slower). Also check your frame type is set consistently (802.2 or 802.3 throughout). A mix of 100 and 10 mBit cards will also slow performance. Finally - check your cables - you may have moved from co-axial to Cat-5 cable in the process and scored an intermittent connection somewhere.
