If I am runnning on OI 3.7 on NT with the LH Service
for 21 users with a runtime oengine how do folks
recommend running the INET_GATEWAY?
I am a remote developer for this client.
Should I set up an option to start it from thier
main menu?

You need a WDP which is a development copy. Just run this against the correct application. You can always use the runtime vs development tips from this SENL

Sprezz,
So with a 2 dev. license and 21 runtimes I could have
the NT console running in dev mode and the others in
runtime as your article suggests (creating 2 directories et al)?
Now in OI, can I determine easily if in dev mode so I could, for the admin user, have a startup point on the NT console, to go into oi in dev and have a window that just says "Would you like to start the OI gateway?" (and thereby not having to create another run on sentence like this) ? This way the onsite admin who never needs to access the
application does not have to worry, nor do I about creating any havoc in OI.
On side note, since the client just moved off of netware to NT, are there any tools to check for users logged on, oi stats etc with re: to the NT service? With the LHNLM you could use the NLM_STATS.
Thanks for the reponse.

Yes that's right.
We actually set up the inet_gateway to run automatically when we log into the app regardless of whether we're running or not - just modify field 32 of the environment to be say START_IT*APPNAME then create START_IT as
Compile Subroutine Start_It( Void, Void2 )
Call Start_Window( "INET_GATEWAY", "", "", 0, "" )Return
And no, no NLM_STATS for NT Service.

Thanks I will actually create a shortcut with /DV=1
and in my login to run the app. as I now prompt for users.
If the user is the admin or the compname is the server,
then I will run a non-bound form that asks to launch the
INET_GATEWAY or not.
BTW - At the risk of sounding stoopid…
"field 32 of the environment…" ?
Also, in the senl art. I am assuming "REVBOOT" is
d:\revsoft\oinsight" in your example and how many
.run files are there. I have only seem oengine and reporter.
Ah hell I'll try it, it seems straight forward enough.
Thanks for the help on this issue.

Sprezz,
Thanks for the info. The system is up and running
with the \devmode\ and \runtime\ subdirectories.
Works like a charm. Being a non-dos/window/pc
guy I would never of thought of that. To me that
would of conjured up images of the multi-oengines
on the server battling things out.
So now the runtime users can log in as normal and I set up
a user "CONSOLE", and in te app. startup point I start the INET_GATEWAY (..\oi\devmode\oinsight.exe /un=CONSOLE )
I then but this into the Server's "startup" directory so
INET starts after a reboot.
Thanks for the info! (That alsogoes for Oystein,Mike R., etc.)
