mvBase 1.3 conversion (OpenInsight 32-bit Specific)

Does anyone out there have experience reading mvBase 1.3 for Windows files? We have a prospect who is interested in converting to our OI 4 system, but we have not found any easy way of getting the data out.
The client is non-techy and is using a custom app which is no longer supported by the developer. They have sent us the whole system on CD but it is not possible to run this as it requires various registry settings that are configured on initial installation.
It seems like we'd need someone who actually had mvBase to read these files. We would like to extract the data into ASCII format (just leaving the original delims within the record as is).
Raining Data don't offer any kind of evaluation copy of mvBase. Mike Ruane suggested that the documentation might detail export options, but I was never able to find any export help.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Paul

Do any of these links provide any clues?

Thanks Pat.
We've done quite a bit of research on the comp.databases.pick forum (and posted there) but have yet to get an acceptable solution. The biggest problem is that because we can't run mvBase we are unable to access the application natively. Most of the export options discussed rely on running mvBase then using some additional software to connect into it. Ideally we would want to use a simple basic program copied into mvBase at their end to dump out the data.
We're still pursuing a couple of leads from the Pick forum, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else had any ideas.

I may be able to assist with a basic program to do what you want - read the files in situ from BASIC.

this might be a brute force method – but
if you can get them to run a 'pick style' backup, then you
should be able to actually read the backup and decode what is
there.
as an alternative, you could try doing a t-dump of ALL
the files, and once again, write a program to read the t-dump.

Thanks everyone for your help. We've just found a local developer using mvBase and have done an account-save of the client database. Hopefully we'll be able to restore this into the developers copy of mvbase and then write out the data.
If this fails then I might take Steve up on his offer.
Best Wishes,
Paul
