Hi there, I am wondering if anyone knows of a way that I can schedule our indexers to close. Our backup provider suggests that no indexes should be running at time of backup, but the backup doesn't start until 1AM. I don't want to just kill the window as it may corrupt the indexes. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Short of writing your own Indexer… AREV has a code/command in the Environment called Post Index. Place your own program to log off after the specified time. It will be executed after each successful index flush.

You can also use the post-index hook to have the program go into "sleep" mode (I forget the statement)for a specified period of time.

This was answered here several times … search the discussion.

One solution … use windows scheduller to start indexor at time when backup surely ended (if backupping allows use special file name as flag meaning backup has ended and "loop wait" starting from scheduled time until file exists, delete the file afterwards).

use index postprocess to check daily time and logout whenever in "forbidden interval".
