I read a while ago that RevTech is developing a Networking product for Unix machines like the NLM for Novell and the NT Service for NT.
Will that product be there and if when?
Will it run on Sun Solaris and under what conditions?
A clear answer will be very appreciated.
TIA

Egbert,
Here is the press release about jLH.
Will that product be there and if when?
Yes, and "when its done ", based on where we are now, we hope to be delivering this summer. We have demo'd a very early version of jLH at the Boston Developers conference, and will be demoing again at the San Francisco conference. I would keep an eye on our web site for more information on ship dates, as we get closer to completion.
Will it run on Sun Solaris and under what conditions?
Solaris is one of the platforms we are testing on.

I need the product for an AREV application on a Sun Solaris.
Is it necessary to convert the application to OI4WG or can we address the JLH product from AREV?

I understand from RTI press release(on this web site) that they do not plan to support an AREV –] JLH. That is you will have to have an OI platform.

An easy fix may be SAMBA, it is a Microsoft SMB protocol emulator that will run on almost any Unix PC/Server. It emulates a NT server, and is for free, unlimited users. We are currently testing from Linux, sorting out the record locking… try http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/

Were you successful with the 'byte-range-locking' ? If so, what are the contents of your smb.conf file (please, be nice and share
