ARev prints in PCL2, does anyone have a solution on taking this data stream to a Thermal printer? The company does not want to use a Dot Matrix and I can't think of any other ideas. Can you please help?

AREV prints in whatever the programmer tells it to print in. It simply outputs whatever it is programmed to output. Left to itself it outputs plain text. If it IS outputting PCL2 it is because it has been programmed to do so.

We've successfully printed to thermal printers - it should really present no challenge. Can you be a little more specific as to your requirements?

Our current bar code printing routine, that uses PCL2, prints just fine on the laser printer and on the dot matrix. However, the dot matrix output is not scannable. Something with the dots I suppose. It just doesn't work.

So we would like to keep the dot matrix's ability to print on LOTS of labels without jamming (like the laser printer does when you run LOTS of labels thru it), and are checking out thermal printing.

The thermal printers don't use PCL2 and so we would have to re-code. While we could do this, we don't want to. Many other projects have our attention.

So I think what he asking for is some arev or windows magic that will transform PCL2 into whatever it is that the thermal printer uses. What that is I don't know.

Update: Our hardware guy found a PCL2 capable thermal printer so all is moot.
