table corruption caused by antivirus software??? (AREV Specific)

I have a new site running AREV 3.12 on a Novell 4.2 network. Workstations are Win98. Using the advanced netware network driver and client32 3.1.
I have several other sites running the same application on similar hardware/software for several years without any problems.
The new site has had gfe's with a frequency of 2 or 3 a day to only 1 every 3 weeks. I just discovered that they had install a memory-resident antivirus package called PC-cillin. Since this seems to be the only difference between sites that have no gfe's and the new site, is it possible that the antivirus software is causing the problem? I'd like to get feed back from other people before I tell my client to un-install their antivirus software.
Thanks,

AREV seems to have a problem with Win98.
On the shortcut, go to Properties-]Memory and check the box named 'Protected'. Also, go to My Computer, Properties, Performance and make sure write-behind cacheing is turned off. You might also want to turn off VIDEO RAM (not VIDEO ROM) cacheing in the computer's hardware setup. That should take care of the problem.

I've seen similar problems with real-time virus checking (either workstation or server-based). If you can disable virus checking by extension, then have it ignore *.OV? files. This used to be the older DOS .OVL or .OVR extension that was a executable. I've also seen server-based software that spends so much time checking virus signatures that the lock-time-latency timeout gets exceeded. This can send the workstation into an infinite retry loop.

Th virus checking software may be to blame.
Either disable it on *.LK and *.OV files or across the whole AREV directory and subdirectories.
You may be able to mark arev.exe read-only to reduce the
likelihood of virus attack.

Having just built my 233 pentium from scratch and upgraded my Arev 2.03 to 3.12 and am running windows 98 with pc-cillin that came with the motherboard, I am happy to report that I am not having any problems at all. PCCILLIN loads up when I boot up and when I log into the internet. My pc-cillin is date 8/3/98. I am using the default settings that come with win98.
