Problem printing from AREV to TekPhaser560 (AREV Specific)

For years we have been using HPIII printers because the front panel
allows easy configuratin for landscape, condensed etc. Alas, they
are at the end of their product life. So we are trying to get AREV to
print to contemporary printers. With the Phaser560 we get a file to the spooler but then it just disappears. You can hear the 560 warming up and see it receiving data, but it just quits. Printing from Windows is no problem. We attempted to use a Novell Capture.
Does it require a different printer in AREV? If so, are there some available for current printer? Is the HPIII driver compatible with PCL5 printers in general.
So what's the trick to getting AREV to print?
TIA,
Jim

One of my clients is running HP 4250s on Netware v6.0 and ARev v3.12 and v1.16, XP and Win98 workstations with no problems. You might have to change the PDFs (printer definition file) from HPLaserjet3 to HPLaserjet4 or 5 depending on how you have the spooler and printers defined. If you don't have autoendcap set on the queue/job/capture then you have to do an endcap or a ARev "pdisk prn (so" to kick off the print job.
How compatible are the Tektronics PCLwise? They're deficient on PJL commands from my understanding.

If the printer does not support DOS printing, you are pretty much sunk (it won't matter what PCL emulation you pick if it has to go thru the windows drivers first).
Try this at DOS and if it doesn't work, I'd suggest replacing the printer with one that does support DOS printing:
DIR /W ]LPT1
(or the appropriate LPT port you are using or have captured).
