I have a problem with OIPI which I thought I'd bounce around here.

I tried contacting Tony Splaver but his email isn't answering. Maybe he's on leave (lucky him):)

I have previously been running v3.6. I installed v3.8 on he weekend and now can't use it

When I install - no error messages

When I try to INIT the OIPI i get an error -5 returned, which according to the Error Messages means…

The INIT message failed because the OIPI.EXE or support files could not be found. The OIPI.EXE and support files should be located in the OpenInsight directory. See the OpenInsight Modifications for more details on the support files that are required by OIPI.

I've checked the required files are in the required places and they are.

Any ideas guys ??

(I've just sent another email to Tony, maybe I'll get lucky :)

Tony,

So all my suggestions were off target?

Here's another one, but far-fetched, I admit. You see I suddenly came to think of the parallel development/runtime scheme described in the last issue of SENL. Andrew suggested moving all EXE and DLL files into subdirectories RUNTIME and DEVELOP. I guess OIPI will work if it's already installed when one does that. And if OIPI is installed afterwards I guess it will work as long as it's installed to both the developer and runtime versions. But I think there are opportunities for making errors.

I found Tony Splaver :)

Seems there is a little bug in 3.8 but not the one I've told his about. He is expecting to issue a 3.81 soon.

I'm going back to 3.6. (hopefully).

Has anyone else had any problems with 3.8.

No I'm talking about these suggestions for your problems with OIPI.

Did you mention a bug in 3.8 - in a different posting? Did Tony say what that bug was?
