Dave,

I don't mean to sound dense, but how can my users be "not attached to the server" where AREV resides and still use the application? I'm not well-versed in network administration; I manage the AREV application, "they" manage the network it resides on. When our users log onto the network (Novell 4.11) their login script attaches them to SROOM (the AREV server) and in most cases, to DATA2 - the location of our corporate purchasing package.

Sometimes, we notice the "too many users - now logging off" error message when DATA2 has reached it's license limit (250). However, we've documented occurrences where attempts to login to the AREV application were denied when plenty of licenses were still available.

Is there a need to set-up the Revelation NLM to monitor ALL servers that the users attach to, or is it only applicable to AREV products? I understand it will manage up to 8 servers.

Any additional help will be greatly appreciated. It's getting to the point where users are taking turns coming in early to get their PC's logged in before the trouble starts.

As a side note, can you tell me how to subscribe (or where to go) to print/obtain copies of your bulletins? As we increase our reliance on the AREV product I manage (MAPCON - DFM Systems of Des Moines, IA) it's becoming increasingly important to respond quickly (and correctly) to problems that arise.

Ed,

When I said not to attach to the server. I meant server2 (I think this is the one without revelation data) which reaches it maximum number of Novell users.
If you try to attach a Novell server that has reached its maximum number of users you will receive "attempt to log in too many users" through Arev. Arev sends a request to all attached Novell servers for user/license information (Arev/Novell). So if you do not attach this server you will be fine.
I think this should clear things up. If not just let me know.
I am not sure what type of bulletins you want, but if you give our customer service department at 1-800-262-4747 I am sure they will be able to help you.
I am also sending you an email with this information so you can respond to that as well.

If you search this database for 'TOO MANY USERS', you will find attempts from myself and my coworker, Chris Cordera, addressing this issue. We have one client site in particular with this ongoing problem. I hope you find the information there useful.
