Hi All

One of my clients had an OIPI report that seems to have been too big. This particular report was set up to go directly to the printer, where as most of their others preview first.

The full report is 320 pages. After printing the first 14 (no preview) it croaked. I thought maybe it was a network problem, so after resetting everything, and trying again, we got errors calling OIPI ie "unable to start new page" type errors, but there could have been other errors. This report works fine with smaller numbers of pages. It works fine if you preview the whole thing first and then only print a few pages (50 to 100) at a time.

What causes this? How can I fix it? Does it go away with OIPI 4.0?If I get the works program, can I give the OIPI 4.0 upgrade to my client or do I need to get it for them separately? What is in the OIPI 4.0 upgrade? (how is it better?)

OIPI 3.8, Win 95, Novell 4.x, HP Laserjet 8100 PS

Scott ..

There was a definite size limitation on OIPI reports (about 50 pages or so, depending on font-size, etc.). I don't know if OIPI 4.0 fixed this or you have to go to OI Professional.

Don,

Gee, I didn't know that there were any page limitations when using OIPI. If the "OIPI" report is going over 50 pages, what do you do?

RTI: Also, will OIPI professional overcome this barrier?

Scott,

Are you using the OIPI Professional? According to Tony Splaver, the Professional version does not have a page limit. If you are using the older 16-bit versions of OIPI, try breaking the report into smaller reports - but you won't be able to number pages (not without repeats!).

How do I get the Professional Version, you ask? If you are a current WORKS member, download it, install it, and then email me for the Professional license. Even if you have downloaded the OIPI 4.01, unless you have recieved the Professional license from Revelation in the last two months, you will not be able to use the full features of the Professional version.

Hi All

Looks like by what Kevin says, if you have works, you get the latest OIPI and get him to give you the "professional" code/licence thingy then you can print direct to printer as many pages as you want.

Our clients have been previewing most reports (they can preview 320pages) and then selecting fifty pages at a time to print. I can't believe they weren't telling me about that one but it explains a lot.

Now I have some real leverage to get back on the works program.
