WOndering if anyone has any experience in exporting data from Arev, then importing it back in. Looking at making mass changes to several databases prior to consolidating them all together. Looking for a utility or any other suggestions to make the task easier than weeks of manual input.

Are you making global changes to existing data? Rearranging columns/fields of data? Appending or replacing records? Merging records from multiple files?

A little more information would be helpful.

Well, I suppose a bit off all of the above, except for rearranging fields. The overview of the project is to bring several databases together into one Arev directory. This will involve initially modifying data at each site in order that it can be brought into the one directory. At that point, we would be merging multiple files.

I am reletively unfamiliar with Arev, although I am picking things up rather quickly (out of neccessity), so thank you for your patience!

I'd recommend a visit to the "Developer Network" section of this site. A project of this scope usually requires more than a basic familiarity with Arev.

We have a product called Survey IT! which allows a user to define a Survey or an AREV database without any AREV knowledge. One of the features of the system is you can import data from other AREV data bases uing a wizzard that constructs an XLATE statement. The system also includes an IMPORT/export function. The system creates the export file and import file definitions based on the survey/AREV file definition. This is all done without any knowledge of AREV.

There are no basic restrictions in the Survey It! system. Survey It! may work for you. Included with Survey It! are very powerful reporting tools. Knowlwdge of AREV is not required to produce the many reports.
