Hi,

Is there an JDBC driver available (for the OI LH files), that I could use from other software (Delphi, VB), to access the LH files WITHOUT having to drop into the IO application ?

Thanks,

Peter

If we read your question as "without having to be running openengine" then the answer is "No", sorry.

Peter-

This is one of the features we're hoping to include in OI 4.1, which we plan to have in time for the Revelation Users Conference to be held in Las Vegas this August 14-16.

Although August is a way off yet, can you advise at this stage if a person would have to purchase OI 4.1 to get the 'use' (develop & deploy) of the JDBC, or the product (JDBC) would be for sale as a seperate item.

I'm not disputing whether or not OI 4.1 is a good product, I just have to 'watch the pennies' and look at the tools I now have (OI 3.7.2 , Dephi 6 Pro and JBuilder 5 ), and try and make best use of those investments. If at all possible, I would rather buy the JDBC alone, assuming I could use it with JBuilder 5 (Borlands Java product).

On the other hand, if I was 'loaded', I don't think I would have any hesitation in purchasing OI 4, as the 16 bit OI product has been a really great development tool to work with.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi,

Came across an open source project called "Maverick", see http://www.maverick-dbms.org/ or http://sourceforge.net/projects/maverick

It's written in Java, and could be adpated for OI LH files, as the basis is unidata, and is a 'pick style' open source DBMS.

I think it actually uses UniObjects which is UniVerse's Java API. It appears as tho it uses UniVerse and other databases like MySQL as a file system to store the data and provides a basic compiler and other MV tools on top.

MV stored in SQL is an interesting concept…
