We converted from an Advanced Revelation patient activity system called HPMS some time ago to a Windows NT-based product. The original Arev-based product was running under Novell Netware. I ported the programs and data files over to an NT Server, and can get the product to run cleanly as far as inquiry is concerned, but we still need to print reports. Even though I've set the package to print to the Lpt1: port using a Novell ENDCAP command sequence, when I send a report out, it just disappears into the bit bucket, even when I have a local printer attached to the lpt1: port. I am stumped! Any good ideas out there on how to fix or work around this?

Ray,

So is this AREV system now running on an NT server or the original Novell server? I got the impression that the entire application has been moved to NT. If so, you first want to make sure you are using the appropriate driver (NT Service with NPP preferably, or the NPP all by itself at a minimum.) Print jobs can get hung up pretty easily on Microsoft platforms, however. A simple solution is to run a PDISK PRN command after each print job. You can do this from F5 or embed it as a Perform command in code. See if that helps.

Whilst we posted this in relation to USB printers it may have some relevance to your situation…
