Having Problems with application locking up in certain modules. Lock up regularly occurs while navigating rapidly through data entered on the screen using arrow/enter keys. Also when application locks up the network connection to NT Server is lost.

NT Server =] Compaq Proliant 800 | 512MB Ram | Pentium II 450

		NT 4.0 | NT Service Pack 4

Application was moved from Novell 3.12 w/ NLM to NT Server w/ NT Service Pack applied. Application worked on Novell without this locking problem.

Workstation Configurations Vary. (all systems are clones)

Pentium 133 to Pentium II 350 | 32MB to 64MB Ram | Win95 or Win98

NIC?s=Mostly SMC8216 or SMC8416 running @ 10Mbps

Using ?Client for Microsoft Networks? for NT Server

?Client for Netware Networks? for Novell Server
TCP/IP for NT Server
IPX/SPX for Novell Server
Modified Config.sys=Himem.sys / Emm386.exe 4096
                            Files=250 / Buffers=60

Tested Application using 45 users then narrowed that to 1-6 users

 for further tests.

Applications locks with as little as 1 user.

Tried removing Netware Client and IPX and using MS Client and IP only.

Tried removing IPX Binding to ?Client for Microsoft Networks?.

Removed the network switches to run only using hubs (CNET Hubs).

Application is the only thing running on Server.

Sent copy of application to Revelation Software and to Programmer

to Test. * They have been unable to recreate. *

Could not get Application to Lock up when NT Service Pack was

disabled, but system ran so very slow that it is not feasible
 in a production environment.

Tried New NT Service Pack.

Tried Different Compaq Server.

Tried Different Ram.

Randy,

Is there a screen saver on the NT Server? If there is, try turning it off. I had a client that had a similar problem when SP4 was applied. We switched off the screen saver and hey presto!

The NT Server does not have a Screen Saver running on it.
