We are in the process of switching Arev from Novell to NT 4.0. When I installed the NPP I received a message about the FIXVOL Utility. I ran this process and everything seemed to come back okay. My question is: How often should I run this process? We already receive GFEs off and on – but now I have to also worry about GCEs? I would like to be proactive and not have the sytem down during the day when we receive these errors, so how often should I run the FIXVOL utility?

FIXVOL is a one-time process, unless you restore files from a backup previous to running FIXVOL. In which case you need to run it again.
