Dictionaries and EasyWriter (AREV Specific)

Hello again,
Is there any way I can flag a dictionary item as 'invisible', so that it cannot be listed in an EasyWriter report?
We have some confidential information fields that we don't want our stores to be able to view in an EasyWriter report. I tried setting the display length to zero, and that works until they figure out how to issue a JUSTLEN command from EasyWriter.
BTW, AREV 3.12 running on Novell 3.1x.
TIA,

The way I would do it would be to edit %FIELDS% and remove all the information for the fields you wish to be protected. Easywriter uses this record to get its list of fields. The field will still appear in a LISTDICT listing. The record is protected, but you can still edit it, either the way DICT.MFS does, setting a common variable, I believe, or by creating a synonym in the REVMEDIA file, which is the way I like to do it. You could also strip DICT.MFS from the file handle.
One caveat is that if ever someone deletes %FIELDS%, it would be rebuilt using the entire dictionary and you would have to go through the process again.
Another alternative would be to put in your own MFS that executes before DICT.MFS.

Hate to correct the boss, but that's only good for QBE.
Source was supplied in the REVSOURCE file shipped with 2.12, so you could code in the information and security you need.
Keep in mind this was the source to 2.12 and there were changes introduced in the 3.x series, but it shouldn't be that much in the small subset you'd be working with.
