DSig,

To summarize what Sprezz and Sean are saying, make sure the following are in place:

1. OI 7.x (sounds like this is confirmed)

2. oinsight.exe.manifest file is in the OI folder

3. XP workstation

4. Using the XP theme (as opposed to Windows Standard)

I would also add that the window should either originate from OI 7.x or it should have been "form fixed". Not that this would affect the look of your buttons, but other XP-theme elements would not be working as well if this wasn't the case.

2. (oinsight.exe.manifest) have no idea what this is .. never

have created this but it was working earlier .. can't find this

in the docs .. I have an exe and a dll. if something else is needed could i get a pointer to the document that talks about this

correction .. i do have a oinsight.exe.manifest file ..

still no xp cutsie stuff

but in looking in the folder i did find about

23 - delsl1.isu

and

3778 - what look like temp files with names like

3647fe1l.000

3647fe1l.00a

3647fe1l.00b

etc etc etc

So not only is the 'manifest' file not working but it looks like the report is putting LOADS (131 meg) of crap in the directory ..

way cool

Don ..

i forgot to mention that all windows have been created in 7.1 (mostly in the most recent beta)

Also .. there are NO XP features showing .. it is the old flat look.

Not much else to go on .. it had been working until about 2 months ago .. last i remember but had more problems than that to work out .. still do but been really sick and need something to bitch about .. other than this conversion

thanks for any ideas

DSig,

I don't have any more ideas yet but I do have a few more questions:

1. Do you get XP themed buttons and edit controls with Windows dialog boxes (like the Display Properties window)?

2. Do you get XP themed buttons and edit controls with the OI development tools, especially with OI-written tools like the Database Manager and UI Workspace.

3. If the answer to #2 is no, does it make any different if you log into the SYSPROG application?

4. Do you get XP themed buttons and edit controls with other copies of OI 7.1.1 (assuming you have any)?

What an OI geek i am .. 99% of my time is in OI so I never noticed that other programs are doing the same ..

So, I look under appearence and it only shows 'classic windows' .. there is nothing else in the drop down ..

Any ideas where these come from?

Don ..

it turns out that one of the windows updates had deleted items (at least that is my update) .. there were postings of this happening and that the XP theme caused some problems with IE .. oh my .. i hate windows

SO just copied windows/resources/themes from another machine .. and there you go ..

Too much fun to be had with this response but we have to be sensitive to other's sensibilities :). Carl is to UI programming as Cozy Powell was to drums and Eric Clapton is to guitar…

well .. you picked 2 pretenders and I feel Carl 'aint no poser'

Emerson Lake and Powell … oh my

and Clapton might have been good once but little too pop for me

No if you had picked .. say .. Keith Moon, Ainsly Dunbar or Duane Allmon, Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi .. now those better reflect the Bright Star known and Captain Pates ..

eric clapton ..
