My company is apparently researching replacing our Novell fileservers with Linux servers running Samba.

As far as I know, Linux can and does support IPX, and it is possible to map network drives to a Samba controlled share.

Obviously, since this is not Novell, it is not possible to run the NLM, and since it is not Windows, you can't run the NT Service.

I'm concerned that this means we can no longer use these services, which exposes us to GFEs and whatnot all over again. Has anyone ever used a setup like this, and are there any other concerns that I should be aware of?
