We are having intermittent problems connecting to the NLM whilst patch 4b is installed on our Novell Intranet 4.11 server.

Information:

Server is a Dell PowerEdge 2200 with 128Mb RAM, 2 9Gb Seagate Barracuda Hard Drives mirrored using the on-board SCSI controller and an extra Adaptec 2940, both using the recommended Novell drivers. Also running on the server is Seagate Backup Exec, Dr Solomon's AVTK, and a complete GroupWise mail system.

If anyone has experience similar problems, or has any solutions / work-arounds, please reply here, or email me:

Dan,

You need to be a little more specific about your problem. Are you using Arev or OpenInsight, what version, what version of the NLM, and what is the exact error message you are receiving.

Here are some things to try in the interim:

Upgrade to Novell sp 5 Here is a link to the patch list. This is the current patch set. The NLM 1.5 was certified with the current patch list as of January '98.

Make sure all the clients are using Client32 v2.2 (win95/nt) or VLM v1.2+ (dos/win3.1)

If you are crossing any routers/switches make sure the SAP id is being passed 0x5B8

If you are using Arev check that the TSR is being properly loaded (in win95/nt use lhipxtsr /p, dos lhipxtsr, win3.x loaded prior to windows)
