Arev V3.12 - Verifylh is painfully slow in NT (Networking Products)

Verifylh runs unbelievably slow when contrasted with the exact same procedure run on Novell V3.12 with the NLM.
THIS IS CAUSING SERIOUS SYSTEM DOWN TIME whilst we validate tables following on from system error messages.
What is the work around to expedite this critical procedure pending a major upgrade to NT Service/NPP?

This the same site with the RAID problems? Could it be how the disk is handling the read access stuff? If memory serves, Verify_LH does regular disk IO to validate the frames, not standard LH access so I don't know if networking makes much difference. It does call the LH Stuff, and there were some issues with it and NT in the past.
