AREV 2x to 3x Conversion - Performance Problems (AREV Specific)

We created a new AREV 3.12 application and simply attached the converted (. to _) tables, programs, templates, etc. to this new account. We have rebuilt all indexes, moved the template rows into the Windows table. Everything is running, but the response is considerably slower in the 3x application. This includes opening new windows as well as attaching images. Anyone have suggestions?

Cam Purdy's Cache.mfs would probably help here if anyone can share it with you (I don't have it but everyone raves about it). There was a noticeable speed degradation when moving from 2.x to 3.12.

Thanks for the info! I'd be VERY interested if anyone has this along with any information you might have about the .mfs

If you are using the windows you had before, you can sometimes get a speed increase by repainting the screens from scratch. At least that was the story after version 3 came out. At least it would be worth trying on a sample window that has a measurable performance issue. If it helps, then you can repaint the other screens.

Do you mean completely from scratch? There are several hundered windows with many customized hooks programmed (fortunately mostly through a control program). We'll try on 1-2 to see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

Yes, that is what I meant. I never did get a good explanation for why this works.

I'll see if I can get Cam Purdy's CACHE MFS. That made a big difference in at least 3 apps converted from 2.12 to 3.x. I think it was Freeware. Give me a couple of days to dig it out (hopefully). Please send me your e-mail address to DCMill1999@aol.com so I can get it to you.

Did you change all Symbolic formulae references from "." to "_" after you converted the dictionaries? I remember that 3+ will try various permutations of the dictionary reference until it got the item. I think I wrote something using SYSCOLUMNS that found them and converted them.
e.g. your symbolic will run slower if it looks like this: @ANS=XLATE("SOMETHING", {MY.KEY}, "THAT.OTHER.DICT.ITEM", "X")
