Same form as last post: I bring in another symbolic, which goes through the same function (now working OK), and I get a new error: apparently it was XLATEing to a file that has an MFS that I had not copied into OI yet. I could not figure out for the life of me how to get this object code into OI, using OI. (I don?t have source). The OI System Editor won?t display object code, apparently. I finally resorted to copying it into OI?s SYSOBJ using ARev. How does one do this sort of thing in OI (copy in object code when you have no source code).

How do you add/remove an existing MFS from a file? (I had to go to ARev to manipulate Revmedia to remove the offending MFS from some tables.)

What is the best way to copy an entire BP file into OI?

I know there used to be lot?s of conversation about a TCL-like command line. Is such a beast available?

Go into database manager and ADD your BP/SOURCE file to the database definition. Now go into the System editor and RUN COPY_ROW "SOURCE","$XYZ","SYSOBJ","$XYZ"

Note without a repository entry for the object code this will be difficult to deploy but it will at least be usable.

See Set_Mfs and Define_database (using F1 trick mentioned earlier)

Easiest is via AREV - just setfile and copy across to SYSPROCS. Note that you can then create repos entries by opening then in teh system editor and compiling them - or writing a quick program to compile them all using the Repository function.

The best FREE one is part of the demo copy of S/List which can be downloaded from our site.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I gather from what you are saying that compiling a source record in SYSPROCS gets it into the repository, but copying into $SYSOBJ does not. Any other way of getting an entry in the repository? I don't know that I'm ready to start writing REPOSITORY functions yet. This is only my second day! Last thing I want is something that's hard to deploy. I am beginning to yearn for the simple life.

Ah yes, I did leave out the word FREE, did I not? Listen, as I remember, Sprezz enjoyed some modest amount of revenue from me years ago. However, having just laid out $$ for a Works subscription, I am not yet ready to spend even more $$. Maybe soon, but not yet! So, what are the restrictions on your free command line?

Speaking of FREE, or even possible; what about alternative EditTable controls. Anything like that around?

Correct - you could go into Application Manager/Entity/New/General/Stored Procedure Executable - look at an existing entry first by highlighting a stored procedure executable then choosing Entity/Properties.

Indeed - a faithful subscriber at Superior Materials Inc. We remember you well - nice to see you active again!

No restrictions on command line per se - it does Eval, and has a dialog box for any OI command etc. Just that we have a friendlier one in-house that will one day see the light as a chargeable utility. Also there used to be a TCL available at charge from another organisation - just don't know if it is still available.

People have played with incorporating later versions of this control with some limited success. But we've not heard of anything else!
