In an AREV 2.12 application running Novell NLM, we occasionally get the following when the periodic/background indexing update commences:

A message window that says:

Fatal Error Writing DATA11337WILSONDAVIDJAMESSOUTM11337MCDPUGALL164298-54 –FS466———————– Linear Hash Client/Server No Server Response ——————————– ESC to terminate, Break to debugger? (ESC/B) ————- What could be causing this, and how can it be fixed? The first line after DATA is the data contained in a specific record, smashed onto one line (field marks removed). I assume that it trails off the end of the message. I tried clearfile !, remove, and replace indexes before, and it did not clear it. The message occurs whether or not the record seen smashed in the first line is there in the file or not. Unfortunately, the AREV error message is cryptic, as it does not tell where the bad record is coming from or where it is supposed to go.

No Server Response

Suggests that you have a bad card / slow switch / server at near 100% utilization. Does it occur on all workstations or just an isolated LAN segment? What Novell client version?
