Is it possible to move from REVG2B to Advanced Revelation without having to reconstruct the menu's or reenter the data?

There are migration tools in the File Import menu for datafiles, menus and RDesign Templates.

Note however that changes in DICT.MFS in version 2.1 on can cause some problems if the REV G2B dictionary symbolics contain code or system variables not supported in ARev (such as @CONV). In this case the converted dictionary will not compile

One way to get around this in REV G2b is to copy the dictionaries to data files (i.e. DICT AR to:AR.DICT), clear the dictionary, migrate the AR file, and the AR.DICT files. After they are migrated copy the items in AR.DICT to DICT AR and note which items cause error messages. Edit those items in the migrated AR.DICT file and finish copying them.

The converted menus and templates will require some or much fine tuning.

We set off to do this about 10 years ago and found it to require a significant effort to make the conversion. The database files and most of the dictionaries came over rather easily but our menus, routines and reports required a lot of work to convert them. We elected not to make the conversion and have stuck with RevG.

It clear that the days of RevG are numbered and you need to convert the application as soon as possible. We have decided to go to OI and jRev as our investment in the future.

It's usually best to paint the entry screens from scratch in my experience.
