When trying to access a database on a Notes server from a Vip application running at the client side, the user encounters a prompt for his password. I.e. the standard Notes password challenge. If I don.t want users to fiddle with Notes at all, is there a way to allow them to change their Notes user id password from a Vip 2.5 application ? Otherwise their passwords will remain static since they won't touch the Notes interface. Any ideas are most welcome.

Access to a user's password in Notes can only be done from the Notes client, and then only by inputting the old password. There is no Notes API through which ViP or any other program can change the password. The actual password is embedded and encrypted in the users's ID file.

However, there is a way to bypass the password prompt in ViP. At least this would keep it transparent to the user. However, there would be no security in that case. (See Knowledge Base -])

In either case, someone would have to go to each client workstation and either change the password in Notes, or configure VIP.INI file locally.
