We would like to downgrade to remove our hesitation, which seem to come with the upgrade to 2.1.

How do I downgrade the NPP?

It should pretty much be a matter of stopping the 2.1 service on the NT server, uninstalling it. Then installing the 1.5 service and changing the network driver in ARev to tha ALL-Networks v1.5.

Make sure all users are out of ARev when you do this.

Do I need to downgrade the version in AREV?

Just change the driver version in ARev through LANPACK/BUMP. It should be in drivers file from the 1.5 client install previously. If you changed the driver in ARev directly from 1.5 to 2.1 you can probably just rename REVBOOT to REVBOOT.21 and REVBOOT.OLD to REVBOOT. REVBOOT.OLD should be built with the 1.5 driver if this was the case. Check the dates on the files, it should be when you upgraded to 2.1.

We renamed the revboot files and uninstalled the 2.1 and installed the 1.5 and arev would not open. We did not receive any error messages, not even the arev splash screen.

What are we missing

Are you getting any error messages? Try switching the REVBOOT records back and/or editing/renaming the REVPARAM records in the AREV directory to check the driver binding. If the driver isn't communicating with the service ARev will not start. Forcing it to the local mode should allow arev to start. It's always good to keep a copy of the non-network bound REVBOOT record too, for situations like this.

Be sure to reset the REVPARAM records to SERVER ONLY=true before letting the users in.
