I am checking back to see if anyone else has documented intermittent GFEs with Netware 5 with the LH NLM running. This again seems to be the Turbo FAT corruption problem many of us ran into with Netware 4x. Unfortunately AFAIK Novell has not released a version of the TURBODIS.NLM patch for Netware 5.

Hi, Chris-it's been a while!

Not quite a response, since I'm not on Novell 5 - but I do have a client who's just asked me if they can install turbo fat on their Novell 4x system, and you've plainly been down that road. Does the patch you cite really do the job?

Hey Steve, (my best to all you City guys)

See my latest post here regarding the need to completely disable any use of the turbo FAT (TF). My understanding is the TF by default is enabled and dynamically created for large files. Once it is created, then any application requesting data from the NOS for that file will receive the data from the TF rather than from disk or the primary disk cache. So the corruption problem forces us to turn it off. Yes, the TF should provide faster access to these files but unfortunately it is at the expense of trashing the data. The question is why is this still a problem after 3 major generations of the NOS. One answer may be because it does not appear to affect SQL databases.
