Variable attaching speed (AREV Specific)

We recently converted our network from Novell to Windows 2000 along with Revelation NPP and Windows 2000 Service. Since the conversion we have been experiencing widely varying attachment times to our AREV application. After getting the "Loading Data Files" message the cursor sits in the upper left of the screen for anywhere from 7 to 60 seconds. Time varies from station to station and even on the same station at different times of day and different days.
Does anyone have any clues?

Tom,
Do the workstations still have the IPX protocal being loaded? If so, which one has priority? Have you cleaned out all unnecessary protocals?

Yes, Don we have only TCP/IP loaded and have also removed the Novell clients using Novell's utility.I did find one station with a bad patch cable that was causing extreme delays. This station was the absolute worst. Once the cable was replaced the problem seemed to fall in line with the general variability of all other stations.

We run AREV 3.12 on Win NT 4 and about 12 months ago decided to drop the IPX protocol and only run IP/TCP…big mistake. We experienced major database corruptions. We tested this on a seperate network and found that only running TCP/IP protocol was the problem. We now run AREV on a server only running IPX so that workstations running IPX TCP/IP will only access AREV via IPX protocol.
