NLM 1.5 upgrade does not work (AREV Specific)

I am attempting to perform an upgrade of the Revelation NLM v1.12 to v1.5. The installation program runs fine, backs up the required files, but does not install the new files. As I mentioned, it creates the backup, but when I check file dates and versions, it still is using the old files.
Is there a way to safely manually perform the upgrade? I have tried just copying files to the appropriate places on the server but this does not work as the serial number is lost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that the NLM's are unloaded when you run the upgrade, that the files are flagged r/w/s and that you are logged in as Admin (supervisor on 3.x).
