Btree.extract fails to retrieve records periodically from workstations we recently purchased.

Novell Netware 4.11

Workstation: Dell Optiplex GX240

WS OS: Win NT 4.0 w/ most recent sp

Client: Novell Client 4.80 for NT

We've been using other Dell machines running NT on our network for some time and have never encountered this problem, so it seems to be specific to this model. Has anyone encountered this problem, and if so, what was the resolution?

Any help offered is appreciated.

Erik,

Have you verified that you have expanded memory available?

Thanks for responding Matt. Yes, expanded memory is available. We are using a copy of the same pif file for all our NT workstations. And I verified that config.nt has files set to 200.

We think we might have solved the problem.

When the machines were shipped to us, the primary active partition(C:) had been formatted using FAT, while the extended partition(D:) was formatted using NTFS. One of our technicians converted the primary partition to NTFS, and lo-and-behold, the problem seems to have disappeared. We are going to run further tests to ensure this is indeed the solution before we go about converting the file systems on all the other machines. As to why file system would be the cause is unknown to me at this time.
