HI all..

Got a good one for you all. Currently have a couple of sites running OI 3.5.1, Novell 3.x/4.x server, and using Citrix Winframe 1.7 as a remote access solution.

If we have a gateway to the novell server from Citrix, and use the NLM 1.5 and the IPX/SPX 1.5 driver or the 1.14 VXD driver with Revparam set to True. Oengine looks like it's about to run, then nothing! (this is on the citrix client) the program doesn't execute! if you set revparam to false, you get unable to access linear Hash files error. using the 1.10 of the IPX driver and Revparam set to false, it runs, but no file locking is taking place. I;ve had this happen on two sites, and need some advice on what could be happening. I have followed all the technical advice given to me from RevTech on this.. it doesn't make a difference. only the all networks driver locks correctly in this enviroment, but! you lose the speed gain from having the NLM running. HELP!

Mark,

It sounds like the LH/IPX driver cannot see the NLM or some sub-set of the IPX interface isn't getting transmitted correctly to the server.

I assume by "setting REVPARAM to true" you mean the ServerOnly attribute?

Are you running the Microsoft NT Client for Netware or a Netware Client 32 implementation?

Revparam is set to ServerOnly=true. Clients were Citrix clients ;) machines had novell clients running as the main one though. Would the I.12 version of the all networks driver help??

I have really could do with some Idea of what to try next. no one seems to know anything about citrix and Revelation stuff..

thanks.

Mark,

By "client", I meant the software running on the Citrix server allowing it to talk to Netware. Typically, this is either the MS Client for Netware or the Novell Client32 product.

Hi again.

Under Citrix. you are only allowed the standard NT3.51 microsoft clients. So these customers are running the microsoft services for netware, and the netware gateway services. You can't use Novell clients as it trashes Citrix!

hope this helps.

Mark.

Hi Mark,

OK, so you are using NT 3.51/Citrix, the MS client for Netware, OpenInsight with the LH/IPX 1.14 and 1.5 drivers (apparently you tested with both just in case; additionally, you tried with the LH/IPX 1.10 driver which does work but locking does not take place). You have a Netware server with the Revelation NLM. You set the SERVERONLY attribute to prevent non-NLM access to the LH files.

So far correct?

Things to try:

1. Make sure you have NWCALLS.DLL available. It should be in the Windows or Windows/System directory. The LH/IPX driver does NOT use it by default but does require it to be there.

2. If you have a copy of Arev handy, see if you can get Arev to run with the same setup. In other words, can Arev get to the NLM (with the 1.5 driver and with locking working) but not OI?

Tried it.. didn't make any difference.

NO Arev.. but I did try the 1.12 ipx driver, still no joy. as long as Serveronly=true, it errors over an novell gateway.

I'm really needing some more idea's on what to be looking at for this to work correctly.

thanks!

Mark,

I have a similar situation at one of our dealers, clients.

The only difference is that Arev does talk to the NLM, so it appears in this instance that the Novell gateway is properly configured, so it must be somehting related to the OI configuration.

I am going to the site tomorrow 11/23/98 to see what is what.

I will let you know what results I have,if any.

By the way…

We have another large client who has spent two months testing arev, citrix winframe, and the NLM in a variety of topologies and configurations. They think they have got it right. I may be able to convine them to share their experiences with us, although they have not done any extensive testing with OI.

Cheers Sam.
