If an AREV 3.11 program issues the following command from a node on a microsoft peer-to-peer network, it sends a text file to a node printer - suspend copy c:\wsid.txt \\sunder\sharonhp6

if an AREV 3.11 program issues the same command from a Windows XP machine, the command fails. (Sometimes we get an invalid parameter message at the top of the screen.)

if you type suspend at TCL, and then type the copy c:\wsid.txt \\sunder\sharonhp6, the command works.

(Sunder is the name of a computer on the network, and sharonhp6 is a printer on that node.)

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks.

Check available memory (from WHO at TCL) is adequate

Check Windows shortcut memory settings

Check Windows shortcut "Exclusive in Foreground" is disabled

Check for an old copy of command.com in your AREV.EXE path

Check that the COMSPEC= environment variable is set correctly

We saw similar behavior on a Win2K workstation, and traced it to EMS not being active (we couldn't see the "program too big for memory" message).
