I am having a problem when trying to update our application with a new screen. Before, when we have sent out patches to our clients, we used a patch utility which calls REPOSITORY ("WRITE"…) to update the code. This proceedure works OK for any EventExe or FormExe that already exists on the system. When trying to use this facility with new screens or events, it does not work. I have tried using REPOSITORY ("ACCESS"…) to determine if the entity exists, then REPOSITORY ("NEW"…) but to no avail. Does anyone know of a solution to this or if I can copy the event code using standard READ and WRITE from the repository?

Thanks.

Simon,

I know there are some who regularly use the Repository function for this purpose but we just use the RDKInstall function and it works everytime for update type installations.

Simon,

As Don suggests, I would look into the RDKInstall subroutine. If you are a Works subscriber, there is a nice whitepaper on it here. If you're not a subscriber, you can find the documentation for the command in the OI help files (Help Contents-]Guide to Application Development-]Runtime Deployment Kit-]RDKInstall Syntax).

If you use RDKInstall, creating upgrade modules from the RDK should be a snap.
