Where can I find the row structure (dictionary definitions) for the REVMEDIA table? I'm working with AREV 3.12 on an NT network.

I have a new table, that I created thru AREV as normal, that is giving me troubles when we use our in-house data replication process to send changes to it from one site to another. All of the other data is going thru as normal thru our data replication/transaction process. We have an MFS (that hasn't been changed in ages) attached to the tables that will add to the data replication file that goes out and updates the tables at the other sites. In trying to determine the problem, I see that a lot of my tables with this MFS don't have any data after column 2. There is a handful that does have some little bit of data between columns 13 thru 18 (inclusive) and some of these are my new tables.

I would like to be able to determine if the data in columns 13 to 18 is contributing to my problem or not. To do that I need to know what, if anything, should be in the different columns within the REVMEIDA rows. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can find this information?

Thanks,

Michael Slack

If you don't have a dictionary already, you can create one:

0*1 filename or tablename

0*2 account or application

1 OS name

2 MFS

MFS is multi-valued.

"OS name" perhaps is a poor name. The value in that field is the name of the file used at the OS level, not the name of the OS.

Well strictly speaking that's there to be compatible with external bonds and should only be used for dictionary files.

It seems unlikely that this is the culprit as prior to AREV 2.0 these weren't there but you can still access these files from 2.0+.

Thanks Victor. Instead of "OS Name", I tend to think of those as the "DOS file names". It is the name of the DOS .LF and .OV files behind the AREV table. Either way, I know what you mean.

You gave me what I needed in the way of the dictionary information on the REVMEDIA columns. I try to stay out of REVMEDIA as much as possible but with my current problem it may require me to try a couple things, while bening very very careful.

Mike

Just do a:

SETALIAS volname SYSPROG,sysprog password REVMEDIA REVMEDIA

Then:

LOOKDICT REVMEDIA

Warren, thanks for the info but my system responded by saying that there wasn't a dictionary available for REVMEDIA. I don't think it should make any difference but I had to replace the LOOKDICT with a LISTDICT command.
