we've got a customer who after some system work got the following

error-serie .. (I'm sorry .. but I don't have 2 much information

about this .. I haven't spoken with the customer myself, so .. it's

how to get around/correct them ..)

first

FS1026

then

'FATAL ERROR READING REVMEDIA IN TABLE'

after this they've got fatal errors in several index-tables ….

to me it sounds that this has something to do with some error in

the volumeid (since both REVMEDIA and ! files r involved …) but

I certainly don't know .. never saw an error like this myself ..

Hello,

FS1026 is a 'cache flush locked by other user' error, but judging from the 'cannot read revmedia in table' error you mention beneath it, I'm not sure exactly what might be going on.

If you are running on Netware, I would check the frame type of the client computer. It needs to be explicitly set to the frame type that is set by the server. When not set, you would get weird errors reading LH files, usually starting with the revmedia file. Also, find out if they are running with the correct network driver in Arev (Ipx/Advanced Netware, All Networks driver, Novell Multi-user, etc..)

Since you didn't post with any additional information, I'd suggest looking into the following things:

  • (easy) make sure the user licenses are sufficient, check to see if there are any other attached servers running Arev with a smaller number of user licenses.
  • Perform lhverify (the command might be spelled a bit different, dependent on your Arev version)
  • Detach (destroy) and re-create the indexes that Arev is mentioning

If you can get more specific error info and post it here, it might be easier to figure out what is going on at your client site. Get the exact error message, along with what sort of operating systems and network operating systems are involved. Also, whether the network is Ethernet or Token Ring.

Good luck!
